Introducing A Year of Productivity

by | May 1, 2013 | Housekeeping

If this is your first time visiting this site – first off, welcome! What is this site about, you ask? Well, glad you asked! (Hah, sorry for putting words in your mouth..)

For exactly one full year, I’m going to eat up everything I can get my hands on about productivity, and write about it here to make you and me more productive. Everything on this site will be easy-to-read, practical, tactical, valuable, and of course, completely free. (The posts will even be free from copyright.)

My name is Chris Bailey, and I just graduated from University. In one very small nutshell, I’m a simple, meditating Buddhist who is obsessed with productivity and becoming a better person. As I mentioned on the front page, I received two great full-time job offers, both of which I turned down. Why? Because I wanted to start something exciting – something that doesn’t involve a typical 9-5 schedule, and something I can pour all of my time, energy, and effort into for one year and see how it turns out. That “something” is this website, A Year of Productivity.

This is what I look like. My main features are my glasses and good looks.

This is what I look like. My main features are my glasses and good looks.

I’m going to learn from the greats (because I’m not one), and read their books, listen to their talks, and interview them so I can learn a ton to make both of us more productive. But I’m not just going to regurgitate what they’re saying; I’m going to take it, experiment with it, and add some of my own spice to see what actually works. I’m also going to interview the people who are living productivity – from the corporate high-flyer who wakes up at 5:30 every morning to run and read the paper, to the Buddhist monk who lives simply and meditates for 10 hours a day. I wrote a bit more about what you can expect from the project (and a few things I have in the pipeline) here. I also wrote a few quick sample articles for the site so you can get a taste of what it’s going to be like!

The point of this site isn’t to make money. It’s to dive deep, deep into what it takes to become more productive and share what I learn. You can pitch in a few bucks if you find what I write valuable, want to support me, and want to help build the site up, but you absolutely don’t have to.

Again, welcome to my little corner of the Internet. It’s going to be an incredible year, and I can’t wait to have you along for the ride. Here are a few pages if you want to learn more about the project!

  • Skim the welcome page to get to know me and the site a bit better.
  • Check out my stats page. Here I’ll post daily-updating stats about how much time I put into the website, and other cool stuff like how many words I write, how many book pages I read, and more.
  • Take a look at the upcoming posts and topics. I’ll add to this calendar as time goes on.
  • Say “hi” through the contact form!

Let’s do this!
